Elizabeth lives with both parents and younger sister in a one-room unplastered house they inherited from their grandmother. They have no electricity and use candles for light; the children sleep on the floor. The family fetches water from a river and use a pit latrine that is in good condition. Her father is a casual laborer and her mother cannot work due to health reasons.
Elizabeth was born without a left palm and fingers. She always questions why she was born different and is not like other children. Her parents’ desire is to get a prosthetic for her but even putting food on the table each day is a is a huge burden.
