Elijah lives with both of his parents and his little brother in a three-room sheet metal house with a cemented floor. They have electricity and fetch water from a family well. They use charcoal for cooking and share an outdoor communal bathroom and pit latrine with their neighbors.
Elijah’s family is very unstable due to parental conflicts. His father works as a driver but neglects his responsibilities and does not provide for his family. Elijah’s mother is mostly unemployed although she tries daily to find casual labor jobs. Her meager income is not enough to provide for her family. The family is in great need.
