Jade lives with her mother, stepfather, sister, and grandmother in her grandmother’s home. They have a three-room concrete block house with a concrete roof and concrete and dirt floors. The kitchen is in a separate room and the bathroom is outdoors. The house is in need of repairs. The family cooks with wood, and water is accessed from a hose on the property.
Jade’s parents divorced when Jade was 3 years old and her mother remarried. Jade now has a little sister. Jade’s mother cares for the home and also helps farm their fields; her stepfather works farming the fields of other villagers as well as their own.
