You’re providing holistic care for your child. This includes education, nutritious meals, spiritual mentorship, health care, tutoring and school tuition, health care, and safe drinking water!
You’re also making an impact on their family. Parents have peace of mind because of you, knowing they’re supported, and their child has their basic needs met. And all of this happens just because you said yes to sponsoring.
Beyond meeting their critical needs, you have the opportunity to build a priceless personal relationship with your child. You can get to know each other more by writing letters, sending video messages, and visiting them on a mission trip.
Most importantly, by choosing to sponsor your child, you’re helping them discover their true worth and God-given purpose for their life. You can’t put a price tag on that!
We don’t always hear from the children about how sponsorship has changed their lives: Often, they’re shy, embarrassed, or can’t find the words to express their gratitude. But sometimes, we are blessed to get a glimpse into their heart and thoughts. Below is a section of a letter that a sponsor recently received from Allan in Uganda:
“You have been an immense source of strength and courage for me during this tough phase. I cannot thank you enough for ensuring I finish my education without any hurdles. Being a part of a college was just a dream for me until you entered my life. I am the only person in my family to get such an opportunity. Mayrin (who goes by her middle name, Paloma) lives with her mother and big sister in a one-bedroom adobe house with a tin roof and concrete and dirt floors. They share a piece of property with another family member, but each family has their own kitchen space. They cook with wood and have access to water from a hose on their property. The bathroom is outdoors.
Paloma’s mother became a single parent when her husband abandoned the family in 2021. He moved to Mexico City and now has a new family. Paloma had not seen her father for about three years and receives no support from him. Paloma’s mother is the sole provider for the family; she works farming villagers’ fields, as well as her own.
