The very fact that your child knows you chose them shows them they are special and that they matter. They know they’re important to you and also to God, you may even be an answer to their prayers.
You’re providing holistic care for your child. This includes education, nutritious meals, spiritual mentorship, health care, tutoring and school tuition, health care, and safe drinking water!
You’re also making an impact on their family. Parents have peace of mind because of you, knowing they’re supported, and their child has their basic needs met. And all of this happens just because you said yes to sponsoring.
Beyond meeting their critical needs, you have the opportunity to build a priceless personal relationship with your child. You can get to know each other more by writing letters, sending video messages, and visiting them on a mission trip.
Most importantly, by choosing to sponsor your child, you’re helping them discover their true worth and God-given purpose for their life. You can’t put a price tag on that!
We don’t always hear from the children about how sponsorship has changed their lives: Often, they’re shy, embarrassed, or can’t find the words to express their gratitude. But sometimes, we are blessed to get a glimpse into their heart and thoughts. Below is a section of a letter that a sponsor recently received from Allan in Uganda:
“You have been an immense source of strength and courage for me during this tough phase. I cannot thank you enough for ensuring I finish my education without any hurdles. Being a part of a college was just a dream for me until you entered my life. I am the only person in my family to get such an opportunity. None of this would have been possible without your constant support and guidance. I shall forever be grateful to you.”
Be encouraged! Your sponsorship IS making a difference! Children and families are being given hope for their futures. God is using you to change a child’s life, which then impacts those around them. Livia lives with her parents, older brother, Onésimo (also in the program), and great aunt in her great aunt’s home. The home is a two-bedroom adobe house with a tin roof and concrete and dirt floors. The kitchen is in a separate room from the house and the bathroom is outside. They cook with wood and get water from a hose on the property. Their home is right next door to the church. Livia and her brother started coming to Saturday Bible Club and then showed interest in attending church services; they haven’t missed a day since.
Livia’s parents are both from the community; they’ve been married for 19 years. Her mother and father both work farming and her dad also builds wood stoves. The family struggles financially because they have two older daughters in high school that they need to support in boarding school during the week. They own a piece of property but cannot afford a house.
