Beyond meeting their critical needs, you have the opportunity to build a priceless personal relationship with your child. You can get to know each other more by writing letters, sending video messages, and visiting them on a mission trip.
Most importantly, by choosing to sponsor your child, you’re helping them discover their true worth and God-given purpose for their life. You can’t put a price tag on that!
We don’t always hear from the children about how sponsorship has changed their lives: Often, they’re shy, embarrassed, or can’t find the words to express their gratitude. But sometimes, we are blessed to get a glimpse into their heart and thoughts. Below is a section of a letter that a sponsor recently received from Allan in Uganda:
“You have been an immense source of strength and courage for me during this tough phase. I cannot thank you enough for ensuring I finish my education without any hurdles. Being a part of a college was just a dream for me until you entered my life. I am the only person in my family to get such an opportunity. Be encouraged! Your sponsorship IS making a difference! Children and families are being given hope for their futures. God is using you to change a child’s life, which then impacts those around them. Reagan lives with his parents and little sister in a rented two-room sheet metal house with a cement floor. The house has electrical lighting and water is drawn from a well. The family as an outdoor kitchen that uses firewood and charcoal for cooking. They also have a well-constructed bathroom and pit latrine that is in good condition.
Reagan’s parents are both casual laborers that rely on odd jobs; they struggle to provide for all of their children needs. The little income they earn pays the rent and food but is not enough to supply school fees and medical expenses that arise.
